Jan. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom –  The new year brought with it a great number of boat shows, more than any one person could possibly attend. From Chicago to Houston, it almost seems like every state has a boat show happening sometime in the first few weeks of the year. Perhaps the new year has made manufacturers hopeful or it could also be because people are buying.(http://www.boatwaxandaccessories.com)
Boat shows have long been the go-to place for those interested in buying a boat. These shows often featured the latest boat designs and technology from the different boat manufacturers, giving prospective boat owners a good overview of what's on the market. The shows are also a great way  showcase any company's product line, as well as to build a list of possible clients.
This year it seems more people are attending the boat shows. The National Marine Manufacturers Association revealed that the attendance of their Nashville Boat & Sportshow was up by 5% compared to last year's turn out. This is great news to boat manufacturers because an increase in the number of attendants could be a sign that the economy is not as bad as being projected, or at least is slowly turning around.
A possible reason for the increased turn out is that these days boat shows are more becoming places in which prospective buyers will find better deals on boats. Many of the boat shows give customers a chance to discuss and negotiate with dealers personally and quickly. This change in sales and marketing strategy is probably because manufacturers really want the business. So instead of having possible clients go online to look for someone's old boat, they'd rather give them a better deal on a new one.
The reason? Manufacturers are taking boat shows more seriously as they could very well be the lifeline of their business. Boats are expensive, and you have to get whatever market you can. Some shows have even started to feature used boats! It seems that manufacturers are now beginning to understand that buyers who have never owned a boat before are reluctant to pay for a brand new vessel, but a used one that is still in good shape is more affordable. Even the London boat show organizers have taken the trouble of changing the age-old layout of the show to one that is more accommodating to guests, one that will possibly encourage guests to buy a boat.
