AT T introduces TerreStar Genus WinPho Dual-Mode satphone[Update]

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan. 18, 2011 - after  almost a year  expectations  and delay of several quarters  AT  T has finally launched its dual-mode cellular and satellite capable Windows Phone 6.5 headphones,  TerreStar Genus . Candybar-style device with a QWERTY keyboard, the front of the building works on AT  T 3G HSPA network, where available, but may be in satellite mode in which the lack of coverage, so you can continue making calls and sending / receiving messages and data(at least in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and territorial waters.) It is not immediately clear when the phone is capable of seamless handoffs between the two networks, but I suspect that it is not.
Interestingly, it seems that the Genus Phone Windows 6.5.3 from the Start menu items, but beyond its GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, radio, AT  T is very stingy in the specification.(We know that there have a camera of unspecified resolution, although apparently the second largest American carrier did not get that memo marketing at Microsoft, as it still referring to the operating system from Redmond smartphone as Windows Mobile). TerreStar Genus is now available for businesses, government and small business programs, and although prices are not disclosed, had previously heard of the $700(handset only, of course).
Update : According to Engadget, who contacted AT  T directly, the phone itself goes for $800, but the real money is apparently in a state of satellite data, which goes for $5-per-megabyte . Sat call prices are a bit easier to accept, but still pricey at 65 cents per minute and SMS 40 cents a run-a-pop.(Via:  Engadget )
