Sibley appoints Mary C. Dupont, M.D. as Director of the Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders

Jan. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Sibley Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary C. Dupont, M.D., FACS as the director of its Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders. Dr. Dupont joined Sibley on November 1, 2010. She is a board-certified urologist who specializes in female urology, urogynecology and cosmetic gynecology. She has been nominated as a "Top Doctor" locally and nationally in Checkbook and Washingtonian magazines.

Dr. Dupont is involved in community and peer lectures and training surgeons in specialized techniques. She was the first surgeon to perform the minimally invasive sling procedure for urinary continence in the Washington metropolitan area, performing over 1,000 sling operations. Dr. Dupont is a surgical innovator in the field of pelvic reconstructive surgery and has performed hundreds of prolapsed repairs. She is recognized as one of this area’s top urogynecologists and appears regularly as a medical expert in television interviews.

Dr. Dupont received her M.D. at Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her residencies in General Surgery, Categorical, at University of Connecticut and in Urology at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. She also completed two fellowships; one in Neurology and Urodynamics at University of Virginia Health Sciences Center and in Female Urology and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA School of Medicine. In addition, she was also a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and received medals of distinction for wartime medical service in a MASH unit.
