Donations Down, Contributions Up: Almost Two Billion Raised During Mid-Term Elections

Priority number one for a successful rebirth of America. Divert the staggering amount of funds that end up in the hands of politicians, towards programs tailored to the betterment of our neighbors.

Jan. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Donations Down, Contributions Up: Almost Two Billion Raised During Mid-Term Elections

January 2011 –  According to “The Chronicle of Philanthropy”, charitable giving declined 11 percent in the year 2009. The decline came as the economic machine raised the tally of those in need of assistance.

Skip ahead to 2010, and we find that politicians shattered fund-raising records during the mid-term election cycle. According to the FEC(Federal Election Commission), nearly 2 billion dollars were raised to support our politicians. My question is, “What does 2 billion dollars get us?”.

In an effort to answer the question to the best of my abilities, I look to unsustainable employment rates, record breaking foreclosure rates, out of control national debt, and a nation of so called “leaders” so far removed from their constituents, that they honestly feel that government is the part of the solution and not part of the problem.

Looking at U.S. Budget charts through fiscal year 2015, provides some very odd accounting. Federal deficits are expected to decline each year through 2015, while GDP rises. This would lead most to believe that the national debt would decline. The government paints a different picture. In 2015 the national debt is expected to be nearly 20 trillion dollars.

Where is the money going? In 2011 more than 2 trillion dollars will be spent on entitlement programs in the U.S.. That figure is well over half, the nearly 4 trillion dollars the government expects to spend. Do entitlement programs produce anything of value for the nation? No, these programs are producing one thing, and one thing only, debt.

When the debt limit of this great nation is finally reached, who is going to bail out the country? The same folks whom bailed out the “Too big to fail companies”, American taxpayers. When only 50 percent of the nation pays any income tax at all, you can see how government entitlement programs have led to the divide of a once united populous. Half of the nation is paying for the misfortunes of the other half.

All of this leads me to wonder, “If the government stopped raping the hardworking middle class American taxpayer, would charity and compassion levels rise?”. I am a firm believer that Americans are willing to help their neighbor out of the goodness of their heart. When blessed with abundance, hardworking folks are more than capable of providing help for those who need it the most. Just imagine had the “bailout” money found itself into the compassionate hands of those whom wish to share the “American Dream” with others, instead of the hands of those whom wish to suck every last bit of life out of the dream believers.

If the future of America is of any concern to anyone, the headlines must start reading, “Charitable Giving Sets All-Time Record”. We must unite and divert our hard earned income to programs that create a better life for our neighbors, instead of continuing to support a system that is designed to create division, debt, and defeatism. By  taking the money out of the hands of politicians, we can assure that the voice of America will be heard loud and clear.
