By: BIG ARTS Their program to include Mozart’s Trio in C Major, K. 548, Schumann’s Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op.63 and Dvorák’s Piano Trio in E minor, Op.90 – “Dumky.” Since its inception in 1974, the New Arts Trio has performed in major cities throughout the U.S. and Canada. In New York City alone, this distinguished piano trio has appeared at Alice Tully Hall, the 92nd Street Y, Tisch Center for the Arts, and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. In addition, they have made several tours of Europe. The Trio has been in residence at the Chautauqua Institution since 1978. Pianist Rebecca Penneys has been Professor of Piano at Eastman School of Music since 1980. Violinist Jacques Israelievitch has been concertmaster of the St. Louis and Toronto symphonies and a soloist for leading conductors such as Solti and Slatkin. Arie Lipsky, cellist, studied with cello masters Pablo Casals, Leonard Rose and Alan Harris. Lipsky was principal cellist for the Buffalo Symphony for 17 years and its resident conductor for 12. He is a frequent guest conductor with orchestras in Europe, Israel, and North America and participates in many chamber music festivals.
