Government Contracts Partner Named to “Top 20 Under 40” by Los Angeles Daily Journal

Jan. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES — Kevin J. Lombardo, a partner in the nationally-recognized Government Contracts practice at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) has been recognized by the Los Angeles Daily Journal as one of it “Top 20 Under 40” lawyers in the state.

As one of the firm’s youngest practice leaders, Lombardo, a graduate of Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, is a co-chair of MLA’s International Trade and Export Controls practices.  A distinguished lawyer, author and speaker, Lombardo’s practice is focused on government contract matters involving international trade law, export regulation and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations.

Lombardo’s recognition is due in part to his recent successes acting as lead attorney defending a large electronics contract manufacturer in a global export controls investigation regarding potential International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) violations that included a compliance review of international facilities, as well as drafting and submitting a voluntary disclosure to the U.S. State Department.  Lombardo led the team that prepared and submitted a preliminary disclosure to the State Department, conducted an extensive on-site investigation in Asia, and submitted a definitive disclosure within 60 days, all within a very conservative budget set by the client.  

Lombardo also successfully represented Iraq reconstruction contractors in their pursuit of award fees, construction and termination claims.  He possesses significant experience in defending cases brought under the False Claims Act and helped manage litigation in several False Claims Act cases, including representation of one of the defendants in Allison Engine Co. v. United States ex rel. Sanders, a qui tam case heard before the United States Supreme Court.
