By: Frank Pagani For just $329 per couple plus tax, guests will be thrown into the drama of a murder mystery right at the hotel. Through a cocktail reception, dinner for two, champagne, wine and beer, dancing, overnight deluxe accommodations and breakfast the next morning, guests will be active participants in the mystery involving two rival crime families. The event is being presented by the Manhattan Murder Mystery theater company. The Sopranos become Moonstruck in this family farce that focuses on what happens when two rival crime families meet at the DoubleTree to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of Pony and Hormello Alto. The Altos exchanged vows in 1986 at the DoubleTree, then known as the Tarrytown Hilton, and decided to return and also celebrate the hotel’s golden anniversary. But, as the evening progresses, questions will nag. Who are the real bosses of the families? The women, the men or their mommas? Is hairdresser, Clarie Awl, the only one who knows for sure? Come, meet them all and watch the ziti fly. It all begins with a welcoming cocktail reception at 5:00 p.m. when guests will meet and mingle with the characters, uncover important clues and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer. The evening continues with a festive party featuring a four-course dinner prepared by the DoubleTree Hotel’s renowned culinary staff. The entrée will be a petite filet of beef or roasted tilapia as well as a vegetarian option of grilled vegetable and portabella Napoleon, French lentil ragout and roasted pepper. In addition to champagne, the dinner will include beer and select wines. The dessert will be a decadent chocolate cake with fresh berries. Guests will also dance to music provided by a DJ and interact with the Murder Mystery characters. Meanwhile, the intrigue between the two families will build to a climax. With a good night’s sleep assured in one of the DoubleTree’s deluxe rooms, guests will be able to clearly focus on “‘who did it” over breakfast Sunday morning, a hilarious finish to a memorable weekend at the DoubleTree. And it will surely be an anniversary weekend to remember by the surviving members of the rival crime families as well. Rich Friedman, DoubleTree’s General Manager, said: “We decided to do something special and fun to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year by linking it to our hotel’s 50th anniversary. This is just one of numerous 50th themed events and promotions we will be offering our guests throughout the year.” For those wishing to extend their stay by arriving a day earlier on Friday, February 11 or departing a day later on Monday, February 14, the overnight stay has been discounted to $79 per night plus tax.
