AllSecure Global Preparedness Tip for the Wealthy - More Thoughts on Gold - "Keeping it Close"

Jan. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- We have been getting numerous inquiries after our last press release concerning Gold and its place in the preparedness plans of wealthy and affluent families.  Specifically, potential clients have questioned whether we think they should have gold and silver reserves.

Our answer is very clear: ABSOLUTELY.  Gold and silver reserves should be a part of any preparedness plan for affluent persons.  However, as stated in our previous post, they should not take the place of other preparedness items such as food, water, shelter, medicines, and so on.

However, there is one big caveat.  Your gold and silver reserves must be in a place where you can easily reach them if all hell breaks loose.

Yes, gold and silver are great hedges against hyperinflation.  Gold and silver “shares” are also great hedges.  But that is only because people believe they have value and will act accordingly.  Also, they only have value in a functioning society with functioning markets.

A different situation emerges, however, if society breaks down.  Gold certificates and gold shares will be worthless.  Do you really think someone is going to redeem your gold shares and ship gold to you if they need it to buy food or medicine for themselves or their family?  Probably not.

The same thing applies if your “gold reserves” are stored in a vault 1,500 miles away.  Even if someone wanted to ship it to you, FedEx and UPS probably will not be running.  It becomes theirs and not yours.

The bottom-line is that all preparedness items, whether food, water or gold, need to be provisioned in advance of a crisis and must be where you can easily get to them if you need to.  If you can’t, they are worthless to you.
