Kim Havens to Serve as 2011 CREW-SF President

Jan. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Kim Havens, LEED AP, of Wilson Meany Sullivan, will serve as the 2011 president of Commercial Real Estate Women – San Francisco (CREW-SF) succeeding Catherine House of Sperry Van Ness.  Valerie Concello, CCIM, LEED AP, a principal with the tenant brokerage firm Ronin Commercial Real Estate and a 20-year commercial real estate veteran is the chapter’s president-elect.  As president, Havens will work closely with the board of directors to enhance the visibility of CREW-SF while further elevating its stature within the commercial real estate industry, increase networking opportunities and expand the organization’s membership base.

“I am honored to lead CREW-SF in 2011 and capitalize on the efforts of my predecessor and our outstanding board,” said Havens, who was recognized in 2009 by CREW Network as one of the 20 Under 40 Women to Watch in Real Estate.  “Although the past several years have been extremely challenging times in the commercial real estate market, I continue to be invigorated and motivated by the opportunities that lie ahead.  I look forward to working with the board to empower women (and men) in the industry and to provide a platform for our members to hone their leadership skills and build their networks.”

To further her initiatives for the chapter in 2011, Havens will work with a board of directors comprised of some of some of the local commercial real estate industry’s top players, including:  Catherine House, Sperry Van Ness; Valerie Concello, Ronin Commercial; Nancy Lundeen, Allen Matkins; Kristin Paul, Prudential Real Estate Investments; Sylvia Kwan, Kwan Henmi; and Helen Duong, Boston Properties.  Incoming board members include:  Michelle Fraedrich, Cornish & Carey Newmark Knight and Tara Hardesty, The Marketing Method.

As president, Havens will be responsible for leading the chapter’s board of directors in achieving the goals of the organization’s long-term strategic plan, which includes expanding members’ professional, leadership and personal success by participation in CREW-SF and CREW Network (more than 8,000 people nationwide); San Francisco commercial real estate companies achieving enhanced financial success through the greater involvement of women in their workforce and partnership with CREW-SF; and further developing the resources needed to achieve all of the chapter’s goals and objectives.

Havens has been a member of CREW-SF for four years.   At Wilson Meany Sullivan, she focuses on entitlement, public debt financing and project management for mixed-use developments in Northern California.  As a project manager for Bay Meadows, an 83-acre redevelopment, she was responsible for the design development and approval of 625 midrise market rate and luxury condominiums and 10,000 sq. ft. of retail.  She managed the formation of the Community Facilities District (CFD) and will oversee the public bond issuance for the district.  She is currently directing the creation of the master marketing program for Bay Meadows and working on the residential land sales program.  

Founded in 1984, CREW-SF (www.crewsf.org) provides a meeting place for professional women in diverse commercial real estate specialties, and promotes the influence and success of its members through professional and business development, educational programs, and the ongoing exchange of information.  The members of CREW-SF are a well-educated, experienced group of real estate professionals.  Numerous disciplines within commercial real estate are represented:  law, brokerage, title insurance, construction, property management, asset management, appraisal, consulting, development and architecture.
