Follow on Google News | Prayables Causes Controversy with Witchcraft ArticleAn article published by leading interfaith prayer site for women, Prayables.com, is causing a stir among supporters and critics.
By: Prayables.com The article has caused a good deal of controversy. Some readers found it informative and enlightening, seeing common ground between themselves and members of a religious sect with whom they rarely had contact. One reader gushed thankfully in the comments section, saying, “Bless you, bless you, bless you for this wonderful article! I don't think we would terribly mind movies such as "Season of the Witch," but for the seemingly non existence of media which presents witches, specifically the beautiful art of Wicca, in a positive light. I would like to personally thank and honor you for this amazingly thoughtful, honest, and powerful article.” Not everyone has been as pleased with the content. The article was posted in a forum on CafeMom, a social networking site for mothers, and generated a flurry of responses. Some took issue with the assumption that people actually fall into the false association of witchcraft and evil, whereas others argued that the correlation falls on sound ground due to unethical practice of witchcraft in other belief systems. The debate became heated, boiling down to which religious paths were the “right” ones to follow. One user, Annabellee summed up the value of the debate and article nicely, stating, “Maybe there are "bad" Wiccans, [but] as a Christian I am forced to concede that there are people who claim to be Christians who do abominable things in the name of that faith. The idea that there is anything inherrently dark about any religion is not only preposterous, but a shining example of what is wrong with the world.” To read the article that created the debate, click here: http://prayables.com/ # # # About Prayables Prayables.com is a free online prayer community that offers women short prayers reflecting a woman's story.
