Jan. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- National Day Nurseries Association, Head Office, 10 January 2010 – National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) today announced that its popular ‘essential guide to policies and procedures’ has been updated to reflect the requirements of the Equality Act 2010. As part of NDNA’s exclusive member benefits package, NDNA members can access the publication free of charge by logging on to the NDNA website.

The ‘your essential guide to policies and procedures’ contains more than 60 sample policies and procedures that nurseries can adapt to suit their setting. Covering a wide range of areas from behaviour management, dealing with discriminatory behaviour to use of cameras and recording devices, the comprehensive guide can save a nursery manager many hours of work by providing easily adaptable templates.

The Equality Act 2010 raises implications for nurseries, both as employers and as services caring for children. Following its introduction, NDNA has reviewed all its sample policies and procedures to ensure that they reflect the requirements of the Act. These are now available to download by logging in at www.ndna.org.uk/policies. This section of the website has also been reorganised so that the sample templates are in sections such as ‘health and safety’ and ‘staff’ so that users can locate required policies quickly and easily.

‘Your essential guide to policies and procedures’ is also still available to purchase in a hard copy format with CD-ROM. This is priced at £30 plus P&P for NDNA members and £80 plus P&P for non-members.

Purnima Tanuku OBE, Chief Executive of NDNA comments: “Effective policies and procedures are critical to all nurseries but updating them can take up significant amounts of time. The free website area on essential guide to policies and procedures for NDNA members has been extremely popular, and we are pleased that these are now available for download following a full update in line with the requirements of the Equality Act. Using these along with our legal helpline, nurseries can be supported to adapt templates that help them fulfill their obligations, giving them more time to discuss changes with staff and ensure that written procedures are being successfully implemented and worked to in the nursery. We would encourage all members to log in and see what is available.“
