Jan. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Lumberville, PA – On Friday, January 21st from 6:30 to 10:30pm, The Black Bass Hotel will host the 2nd annual Burns Night, celebrating the life and poetry of the renowned Scottish Poet Robert Burns. Held in high regard by Scots and poetry lovers around the world, Burns will be remembered through an evening of food, drink, entertainment and camaraderie.

Grant Ross, the Hotel’s General Manager and a native of Scotland, looks forward to hosting the event. Ross says, “For an authentic evening of revelry and debauchery, join us for a traditional Burns Supper celebrating Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns. A piper will pipe you in, haggis will be treated with respect, and there will be five savory courses including beer, wine and whiskey.”

Burns Night is hosted around the time of the poet’s January birthday and follow a time-honored schedule of events. The evening will begin with a wine reception, followed by the entrance of the haggis, accompanied with the lively sounds of the bagpipe. Guests will enjoy numerous toasts, including Mr. Ross’s “Address to the Haggis” - most notably a sarcastic “Toast to the Lassies" given by the men and a witty reply given by the women.

The Black Bass will serve the authentic flavors of a true Burns Supper. In addition to haggis, the communal tables will be filled with neeps (turnips) and tatties (potatoes), smoked salmon and roast beef and pudding, as well as Raspberry Crannichan and cheese and biscuits for dessert. Wine, whiskey and port will also be served.

The Black Bass Hotel invites those interested in this boisterous, culturally inspired Burns Night to join the celebration on Friday, January 21st from 6:30 to 10:30pm. Tickets are $125.00, all inclusive. Space is limited. Highland dress is optional; some tartan desired. For reservations call The Black Bass Hotel at 215-297-9260.
