The chamber has about 950 business members and serves 21 communities between Detroit and Monroe County.
By: HPR Media & Promotional Services LLC As the chairman, Pugh will head the nine-member Executive Committee that oversees operations on behalf of a 40-plus member board of directors. Other Executive Committee officers for 2011 include J.D. Purvis, vice president and general manager for BASF Corp. in Wyandotte, who will serve as vice chairman; Jerry Griffith, community president for MBT-Downriver, who becomes second vice chairman; Gloria Combe, government affairs representative for CN Rail, who was elected secretary; and Greg Genter, Senior Partner at Harvest Partners Financial, who becomes treasurer. Elected as at-large members were Aztec Manufacturing President Frank Lopez, Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital President James Sexton and Heritage Newspapers Publisher James Williams. Last year’s chairman, Jeff Jones, owner of Apex Systems, remains on the executive committee as the immediate past chair. Based in Taylor, the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber exists to improve the overall business climate for its members by undertaking action that stimulates economic growth, inter-business communication and member education and promotes legislative direction.
