Overton Rugby Club Signs New Sponsorship Deal to Commemorate 40th Anniversary

This season Overton Rugby Club reaches its 40th anniversary with celebrations planned during their bi-annual International Rugby Festival over Easter weekend 2011. A full programme is planned with a Men’s tournament, Schools Tag and Minis competitions with evening entertainment, hog roast and speciality ales.

Club facilities have been extensively updated in the past months seeing the replacement of the leaking thatch roof with new slate coverings, through to the installation of new floor coverings and ceilings. The old dilapidated changing rooms have been replaced with new, with separate facilities provided for officials. The showers and the kitchen have been improved and the old, rotten timber cladding has been replaced. The grounds have been tidied up with new first team posts, new paths, pitch side barriers and landscaping. Further improvements are planned to the outside catering area with the existing, covered, outside seating area being relocated adjacent to the catering area. A new programme of grounds maintenance has been instigated that will enhance our playing surface, this has been drawn up following a recent visit by the head grounds man from Twickenham on his trip to the county.  

The club also runs a community sports programme called ‘Sparkling Rugby’ that currently is available in 35 local primary schools providing sports opportunities in schools and at after school clubs.
