Jan. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Matthew Cossolotto, creator of “Make A Promise Day” and a former aide to House Speaker Jim Wright and Congressman Leon Panetta, announced today that he is giving a “Standing O” Award to Genworth Financial’s new ad campaign about “The Power of a Promise.”

“This is a great message that resonates immediately with millions of people around the world.  I applaud Genworth’s CEO Mike Fraizer and the entire Genworth organization.  It’s exciting to see a major corporation embrace the same ideas I’ve been promoting through the launch of “Make A Promise Day” on May 4th last year and the ‘power of making a promise’ project in general.  I plan to include a section about the Genworth campaign in my forthcoming book – I Promise! The Two Magic Words That Could Change Your Life and Transform The World.  The book, which I’m pleased to say also features a foreword by Jack Canfield of Chicken Soup for the Soul fame, highlights the amazing power of promises.  There is enormous synchronicity between my "Make A Promise" messages and the Genworth "Promises" campaign.”

For more information about the Genworth “Promises” campaign, visit www.Genworth.com and www.Genworth.com/Promises.

By way of background, Cossolotto made a promise to his mother (Virginia Hope Butler) on her deathbed that he would finish writing a book he had been discussing with her, get it published, and dedicate it to her memory. The resulting book, complete with Cossolotto’s dedication to his mother, is HabitForce!  -- "The User's Guide For Your Personal Operating System."  Signed copies of HabitForce! can be ordered via Cossolotto’s website:  www.ThePodiumPro.com.

In his foreword to Cossolotto’s forthcoming book about the power of making a promise, Jack Canfield writes:

"When Matthew first told me about the heartfelt promise he made to his mother and that he was launching a special day called “Make A Promise Day” on May 4th, I was hooked.  You could say he had me at “I promise.”

There was something very attractive, almost magnetic, about this concept.  And I say that as somebody who has been intimately involved in the personal development field for many years.  I’ve seen and heard just about everything …

With a promise your heart and emotions are fully engaged.  Because of this, a promise is what I call a personal empowerment ‘twofer.’  It combines The Power of Intention with The Law of Attraction.  And that is a very powerful combination indeed …

Contributing the foreword to this book and being associated with Matthew’s inspiring “Make-A-Promise” project is totally aligned with my life’s purpose. I applaud Matthew for collecting and celebrating these uplifting stories about promises made and promises kept."

John Assaraf, best-selling author of Having It All, wrote this about Cossolotto’s “Make A Promise” project:  “I agree completely with [Matthew] that there is something uniquely powerful about making a promise that goes beyond traditional goal-setting.”

Here are a few prominent examples of the power of making a promise:
•   Nancy Brinker, author of Promise Me and founder of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, promised her sister and breast cancer victim Suzy that she would help find a cure.
•   Bill Clinton made a promise to Chelsea that he would watch his diet and take care of his health.
•   Oprah made a promise to Nelson Mandela that she would build a school for girls in South Africa.
•   Al Roker made a promise to his dying father that he would deal with his weight issues.

Starting January 1, 2011, Cossolotto launched a brand new program called “A Promise A Day:  30 Days to a Promising Future.”  Every day this month Cossolotto will “Tweet” a new recommended promise via his Twitter page:  www.Twitter.com/MakeAPromiseDay.  Those interested can follow the A Promise A Day (“APAD”) program on Twitter and learn more about how to make effective use of the 30 promises by visiting Cossolotto’s blog:  www.MakeAPromiseDay.wordpress.com.

Cossolotto refers to the promises in the APAD program as "Personal Empowerment Promises" (PEPs) and says there is "a PEP Talk in every Tweet."  Several of the 30 promises were originally written by Christian Larson as a remarkable collection of promises that later became known worldwide as the Optimist Creed.  Visit www.optimist.org for more information.

Here are the first ten promises in Cossolotto’s 30-day APAD program:

January 1, 2011:  APAD Promise #1 – From Christian Larson:  I promise…To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

January 2, 2011:  APAD Promise #2 – From Christian Larson: I promise…To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person I meet.

January 3, 2011:  APAD Promise #3 – I promise…To savor every moment of life, appreciating that time is my most precious, non-renewable resource.

January 4, 2011:  APAD Promise #4 – I promise…To be the change I want to see in the world.

January 5, 2011:  APAD Promise #5 – From Christian Larson: I promise…To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.”

January 6, 2011:  APAD Promise #6 – I promise…To follow the Golden Rule and always treat others as I want to be treated myself.

January 7, 2011:  APAD Promise #7 – From Christian Larson:  I promise…To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.

January 8, 2011:  APAD Promise #8 – From Christian Larson:  I promise…To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.

January 9, 2011:  APAD Promise #9 – I promise…To embrace a healthy lifestyle that includes proper diet, exercise, moderation, balance and avoids harmful addictions.

January 10, 2011:  APAD Promise #10 – From Christian Larson:  I Promise…To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
