Jan. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Pine City, New York, USA-The Rufus Tanner House Inn has joined up with other ecologically minded hotels and inns to provide desperately needed hygiene soap products to third world countries. Every year, a tremendous amount of waste is generated from discarded soap and shampoo left behind by guests, with most products being sent to landfills, and often contaminating our waterways. Clean the World.org has created a way to collect and sterilize these items, and distribute where they are most needed, fighting disease and easily preventable deaths.

The Rufus Tanner House is excited to be a part of a humanitarian project that benefits the most vulnerable, including victims of the earthquakes in Haiti, with more than 300,000 bars of soap sent there since the cholera outbreaks of October, 2010. Innkeepers Donna and Rick Powell are committed to reducing waste by highlighting the simple, easy ways we can help those in need, as well as providing an example of ILoveInns.com extensive listings of eco-friendly inns and bed and breakfasts.
