Previously performed only in hospital operating rooms, hysteroscopy is done to diagnose and treat menstrual bleeding. Essure hysteroscopic tubal sterilization offers women an incisionless, permanent form of birth control that can be done under local anesthesia and in the privacy of the doctor’s office.  

Both procedures are covered by most health insurance companies. Because they're done in the physician's office, patients receive their procedures in a quieter, more intimate setting. They're also likely to see much lower deductible costs as compared to an in-hospital procedure.
