Reese’s Snowrider Game Wins Exposure and Funds for Local Charities

Reese helped three charities this holiday season with its interactive Snowrider Ride game.

Jan. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Reese put its own charitable spin on the holidays with an interactive Snowrider Ride game it created to raise awareness and funds for the favorite charities of staff members. The top three charities who will receive donations are the Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania, Greater Reading and Berks County YMCA and Crime Alert Berks County.

“We’re always intrigued by smart approaches to integrate media, and we wanted to put a new spin on our own seasonal holiday greeting. So we developed an integrated print and digital social media campaign that we could use to garner some extra exposure for local charities during the season of giving, and some funds of our own,” said Matt Golden, managing partner, Reese.

Running from the December 13-28, 2010, this locally-generated game was a viral success that accumulated over 141,000,000 points from 2,000 players from across the United States, Canada, Portugal, Germany, Turkey, India and Norway. Web traffic increased by 42%, giving exposure to the ten charities that Reese staff members selected.

The “campaign” started with a printed holiday greeting card (direct mail) that invited friends, clients and anyone with a computer to choose their favorite Reese employee, each representing a different charity. The game required the employee to pilot his/her sleigh and pick up gifts for points. Every gift collected in the game helped contribute monetary gifts to the top-winning charities. To maintain constant exposure for its charities, Reese developed a well-oiled communications plan that integrated multiple channels including e-blasts, personal emails and social media posts on networks like Twitter, Facebook and Linked In.
