LOS ANGELES – Merc80.com & Artistic Endeavors Presents: SOUL POWER -Celebrating the life and legacies of James Brown and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Charcoal complexion, molasses and smoke tinged crooning, slick hair and even slicker feet, James Brown is soul music. He embodies and celebrates the struggle. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader within that struggle, with a dream that we would all be judged by the content of our character. The true self. The Soul.
April 4, 1968, The world lost Martin Luther King Jr, one of the most powerful symbols of peace and equality. James Brown took to the airwaves to calm a nation unraveling into chaos. On April 5th James delivered one of the most electrifying performances ever seen to keep peace in a city on the brink of imploding.
January 15, 1929, the great Dr. King was born.
January 15, 1982 James Brown met with Ronald Reagan to make Dr. King's birthday a national holiday.
On January 15, 2011, SOUL POWER will pay homage to both these men and celebrate in their honor!
