According to Nielsen SoundScan, ‘Pink Friday’ has garnered 851,841 sales to date going platinum after just six weeks on the shelf, while Kanye’s album has only sold approximately 30,000 more units so far.
Even more impressive are the week-to-week sales figures; this week Pink Friday moved 60,853 units while MBDTF only shifted 58,436.
On hearing the massive success of her album, Nicki said: “Girl power! I deserve it this time.”
Something tells us the pair will be happy for each other, no matter who sells the most. After all, the two rappers feature on each others albums; Nicki is on the track Monster for MBDTF, and Kanye is on Blazin' for Pink Friday.
On working with Kanye, Nicki said: “When it came to me putting my album out, I was like 'I can't have an album without Kanye, he has to be a part of it'.
"He's become my mentor, he gives me advice, he hits me, he takes random pictures off-line and says 'Oh this is a good picture of you'. He's really into fashion so he's a good person to have a well-rounded conversation with."
We’ve been listening to the two albums here at Talent Management (http://www.talentmanagement.com) and can’t decide whose we prefer. What do you think?
