Jan. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Hip hop artist Righchus has been putting in long hours in the studio. The result? “Sweetgrass & Supras,” one of the most highly anticipated albums in the Lowcountry since the release of  Righchus’ first album, “Chaos Theory” in 2009. Hosted by super DJ, Ill Will and produced by longtime friend Max “Benjamin” Berry, “Sweetgrass & Supras” will be released Tuesday, Jan. 18. The album will be available as a free download at Datpiff.com, Livemixtapes.com, HotNewHipHop.com and MixtapeTorrents.com. Righchus will have an album signing from 2-3:30 p.m., Saturday Jan. 22 at Monster Music & Movies at 946 Orleans Rd.

Righchus will also be hosting a release party at NV Dance Lounge located at 48 N. Market St. from 9 p.m.-2 a.m., Friday, Jan. 21, with a media meet and greet at 8 p.m. Guests must be 21 and up with a valid ID. Sneakers are not allowed and men must wear collared shirts.

The event is open to the public.

“Sweetgrass & Supras” represents who Righchus is as a Charlestonian and a sole individual, but each track is inspired by a desire to breathe life back into the Charleston hip hop scene and shine a light on what makes his hometown a beacon of light in the south.

“I think this album is really going to change the current look for Charleston hip hop,” said Righchus. “I want to show that through my music.”

"Mr. Hustle 2.0" and "Carolina Born" are just two of the 10 original tracks. The album also features Ben Fagan and Ryan Janiero on two songs, creating a mix of rap and alternative. “Anyone who listens to the album can expect high energy and good music from start to finish,” Righchus adds.
