Safe Haven - Three Christmas Stories

Three of the many Christmas stories this season……………

Many of us were fortunate to enjoy the warmth of our family and friends during Christmas week. But not everyone… These are some of the calls the “Safe Haven” helpline received during Christmas week:

o   A sixteen (16) year old girl, 8 months pregnant, without medical care during her entire pregnancy, had been kicked out of her home by her mother.

o   A women, 6 months pregnant with limited medical care and resources, facing verbal and mental abuse from her drug addicted former boy friend was
reaching out for help.

o   Parents who believed they could not care for their newborn, born during Christmas week. They were planning to place the baby in the “Safehaven” program.

In each case community resources were identified in their county and the necessary assistance provided such as: medical care, counseling, parental education and assisting the parents with the many resources available in their community. We were also able to provide them with formula and clothing for their newborn up to 6 months old.

Safe Haven and the community became their family and their friends this Christmas Season.
A Safe Haven for Newborns continues to be dedicated in reaching pregnant girls and mothers before they reach the crisis state.
