New Beginnings for Classes, Shows, Tours and Demonstrations in January - From gardening and geology to animal feeding and insect pinning, January's new programs at the Springs offer something for everyone. Starting at 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays learn more about the Springs Preserve and our desert environment with classes, tours, shows, activities or demonstrations scheduled each hour. Exhibits, shows and demonstrations such as Periphery and Bridge Over Hoover Dam exhibits, the Wings Over the Springs live bird-of-prey shows, and animal feeding demonstrations weekends at 1:45 p.m. daily are included with general admission. Activities such as "Paint a Birdhouse" available all day in the Nature Exchange, classes at the Garden Center including "Gardening 101," "Grow Fruit in the Desert," "Rose Gardening," and "Irrigation Tune Up," as well as the "Plant Introduction Tours," and "Animal Behind-the Scenes Tours” require a participation fee in addition to general admission. Cost for drop-in activities is $2.00 for members, $3.00 for non-members. Cost for scheduled activities and tours is $3.00 members, $5.00 non-members and all children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult who has paid the participation fee.
January 2011 Highlight - Wings Over the Springs - Get up close and personal with hawk eagles, falcons, owls, cravens and more during dramatic free-flight presentations. This exciting new show that can only be seen at the Springs Preserve explores the role these majestic birds of prey play in sustaining our environment. Visitors will see: Eurasian Eagle Owl, Saker Falcon, Barbary Saker Falcon, Lanner Barbary, African Hawk Eagle, Barbary, Red Necked Falcon, and African Crow Raven. Shows take place Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. with additional shows scheduled for Clark County public school holidays. Springs Preserve Membership
Whether treating yourself or giving it as a gift, a Springs Preserve membership is the perfect way to share the Springs Preserve with family and friends and easy-to-purchase gift cards are available on-line or at the Springs Preserve Ticketing Office. There are a variety of options to choose from starting with an Individual membership ($25), a Family membership $(60) which includes two (2) adults and all children in same household ages 5 - 17 (children 4 and under are always free), or a Bronze Family membership ($100) which includes all member benefits plus extras including free stroller rental, preferred parking, and 2 free guest passes.
