Jan. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Ms. Jocelyn Lawson of Bridgeport, Connecticut, has been named 2010 CAREGiverSM of the Year for the Trumbull and Sandy Hook, Connecticut franchise of Home Instead Senior Care, the world’s leading provider of non-medical home care and companionship services for older adults. Ms. Lawson is a member of the CAREGiver staff of the Home Instead Senior Care franchise owned by Sharon and Robert Massafra of Fairfield, Connecticut. Certified Senior Advisor, Sharon Massafra, announced that Ms. Lawson was selected for her continued outstanding service and commitment to seniors.

With offices in Trumbull and Sandy Hook, Connecticut, the Home Instead Senior Care franchise serves seniors and their families in 33 towns throughout northern Fairfield, southern Litchfield and northwest New Haven Counties. Home Instead Senior Care is a network of independently owned and operated senior care franchises worldwide. Each local area office employs professional staff members and CAREGivers who assist older adults with everyday tasks including personal care, laundry, and respite care.

Robert Massafra stated, “This is our annual highest honor award that is coveted by the 135 CAREGivers we currently employ. We are notably very proud to honor Jocelyn Lawson for her tremendous devotion and seemingly-tireless service to her clients. CAREGivers are truly the very heart and soul of Home Instead Senior Care, and we witness every day how substantially they enhance the lives of our clients.”

Home Instead Senior Care provides companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, incidental transportation, errands and shopping to help keep seniors independent at home or in facilities. CAREGivers are screened, trained, bonded and insured, and have successfully completed criminal background checks and drug screenings. The company has more than 850 offices across the United States and in 14 countries worldwide.

“Today’s busy lifestyle makes it increasingly difficult for Americans who are struggling to raise and support families of their own and care for their senior loved ones,” said Ms. Massafra. “Home Instead CAREGivers provide a means for older adults to stay at home and offer a respite to family members who are trying to care for their loved ones.”

Sharon Massafra commented, “Jocelyn Lawson is a treasure that her clients and their family members have come to love. She works with individuals and their families in Trumbull, Newtown and Stratford, Connecticut. When one client found out she was named our CAREGiver of the year, their first thought was, of course, who else.” Jocelyn Lawson has been a CAREGiver since 2007 and has worked with several clients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Executives at Home Instead Senior Care have learned that she is a woman who gives 100 percent of herself to her clients. “Her kindness goes beyond her clients and rolls over into their entire families. With Jocelyn’s care, family members have peace of mind. She exhibits extraordinary patience and understanding with these clients.”

The daughter of one of Jocelyn Lawson’s client’s recently identified Jocelyn as “a real gem”. Another Home Instead Senior Care client said that Jocelyn had cared for her mother with great skill. “The key word is that she really cared. She continually displays great patience, humor and love.” A third client of Jocelyn Lawson remarked, “We have had many Home Instead CAREGivers come into our home, many very good, only one who was exceptional. That CAREGiver is Jocelyn Lawson.”

In September 2010, a grateful daughter of one of Jocelyn’s clients wrote to Home Instead Senior Care executives, “Unless you have taken care of a loved one, it can be extremely stressful and emotionally unsettling. To be able to have a caretaker in your home with an elderly parent, who needs constant care, and being able to walk away and feel relaxed, is huge. There was never a time when I worried about the level of care my mother was receiving when Jocelyn was in the house. Even after her shift would end, I would still find her in the house bringing the next caretaker up to speed. She cares about her clients and that is obvious. A rare quality to find in today’s times. Jocelyn was not only there for my mother, she was also there for me and my entire family. She is truly a treasure and someone we all came to love.”
