Your chance to star in Dubai's biggest musical ever - Auditions for 'The Sound of Music'

Jan. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- From Popular Productions – the regions number one theatrical producers who brought Dubai the record breaking, sell out successes ‘Blood Brothers’, ’Annie’, Fame’ and ‘Disney High School Musical’, comes the announcement of auditions for the most exciting theatrical event to be staged in the Middle East in 2011 as Dubai ‘comes alive to The Sound Of Music’.

Considered by many to be the most successful movie musical in history, Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music took home five Oscars, including Best Picture. Its soundtrack stands in history as the best selling musical of all time going Platinum more than 12 times. Its landmark score includes some of the most beloved songs in the American songbook including “My Favourite Things,” “Edelweiss,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Do Re Mi,” "The Lonely Goatherd", “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and the wonderful title song. A true and moving story, The Sound Of Music recalls the touching memories of Maria and the Von Trapp family, and their struggles as their homeland of Austria faces up to Nazi conversion, just prior to the Second World War.

Featuring lavish costumes, a beautifully sumptuous set, a stunning orchestral musical score and starring a cast of the very best in London's West End and UAE talent, The Sound of Music will be a wonderful experience for everyone involved.

Popular Productions in association with West End Stage Experience will be searching for performers to be part of this spectacular show. The curtain will rise on April 11th with an opening night gala performance’ at the luxury First Group Theatre, Madinat JumeIrah. The show will entertain thousands during its 14-day run, over sixteen memorable performances.

This is your chance to star in this legendary musical here in Dubai in April 2011 and to work with a West End creative team and stars. Auditions to be part of this wonderful experience are free and will take place on 4th and 5th February at the Hayya! Meadows Club, Dubai. They are open to anyone from 6 to 60 who has the talent and focus and energy to be part of this challenging and rewarding experience. The Producers are looking for actors, singers, dancers and all-rounders to be part of the production. Chosen cast members must be available from 25th March - 23rd April inclusive. Rehearsals are late afternoon/evening in the week days and all day on weekends (Fri/Sat) from 25th March - 7th April inclusive. You may not be required all of the time and this depends on your role in the production. You must however be free all day on 8th - 11th April for technical and dress rehearsals. The performances run 11th - 23rd April with afternoon shows on Friday and Saturday evening shows every day except Sunday 17 April. You must be available for all performance you are scheduled for.
