Jan. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- LEDGEWOOD, N.J., January 3, 2011– A two-day gift-wrapping event brought the volunteers at Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association, Inc. together with Brownie Troop 284 Franklin School to raise money for the animals awaiting adoption at Noah’s Ark.  The fundraiser took place on December 19 and 21 at the Barnes & Noble in Ledgewood and raised a total of $618.42 in donations.
For the two days of the event, both the Noah’s Ark volunteers and Troop 284 wrapped gifts for free at a table in the bookstore that accepted donations.  In addition to the $618.42 raised, the team also got donations of Barbara Gunn’s dog biscuits.
“The event was a great success with a lot of generous donors helping us to raise money for our cause,” said Todd Cramer, Executive Director at Noah’s Ark.  “And of course, we couldn’t have done it without the help of our volunteers and Troop 284.”
The money raised will go towards the spaying and neutering of the cats and dogs at the shelter, an important process in the care of animals.  By spaying and neutering the animals immediately, it potentially lowers the risk of tumors and cancers, gives the pet less desire to roam, prevents the birth of unwanted cats and dogs, and helps the dog or cat live a longer, happier life.
Donations are always being accepted at Noah’s Ark and can be given by mail or online at www.noahsarknj.org.
About Noah’s Ark
Noah’s Ark is a non-profit organization caring for animals for more than 40 years. Noah’s Ark operates a limited admission facility that adheres to an “adoption-focused” philosophy; no adoptable pet will be euthanized due to age, breed, lack of space or modifiable behavioral issues. The organization also provides additional animal-focused services, including a Spay-Neuter Hotline people can contact to receive coupons for reduced spay or neuter services from a network of veterinarians in the community.  Noah’s Ark relies on donations from the local community to support its work.
