I think you should minimize your calorie intake by 300. So you should eat 1200 calories a day. It is safer and more gradual. You can eat 900 calories a day and you will lose weight fast but it is not healthy ( as your body goes through shock it may actually start storing fat ). Usually if we loose weight fast we gain it back really easy. So as i said eat 1200-1300 calories a day and you will see results soon - but not the next day :)
Why not just continue to eat 1,500 calories a day but up your activity level....sounds like you are probably pretty sedentary if only burning that amount anyway. This way you can drop fat without eating any less calories. Also do weight lifting and eat moderate amounts of protein to maintain muscle mass. Hope this helps.
