A Cupped Handful of Prayers is a Must Read for the New Year.

Place your hands together and form a cup today. Take your cup and point it towards the heavens and ask for all of your prayers to fall into its hollow shell. Then view the words uttered on your behalf in prayer that led you into this New Year.

By Janet M. Walters

Today I cupped my hands to catch my prayers and read how my life has changed by the brushing away of each waking day. A painter appeared in my dreams and created a picture of my life colored with grays and blues touched with hints of sunshine yellow. The palette the painter used was to make a master piece of art which is my life. It was the ending of one year and the anticipation of a new year that un-cupped my hands that allowed my prayers to float all around me.

I felt the prayers of my mother and father from heaven raining down upon me and nourishing my soul with their love they gave me so unselfishly. They saw my tears and dipped their hands down from heaven to wash my face dry and tell me everything would be alright.

My brothers leaned down to tell me how much they missed me and to hold on to every piece of love ever received. They shouted stitch the pieces of love together if you must to make it whole. Then my dear niece whose heart on earth was pulled from her chamber put her hand over my heart and told me my heart will keep me well, so live on. She reminded me of God’s grace over my life and to be a donor of his love to others.

Secret times alone, so I thought, until God leaned over and took his hand and unlocked the secret vault of my heart for which he always had the key. God allowed me to walk upright whether I had feet or legs. God saw the sea of my tears, the thought of my dreams and blew his breath on me to awaken me out of a deep sleep. He reminded me of the many rivers of my life, each with its own channel that would give me the ability to swim to shore for safety.

This New Year’s Day, remember that prayers are being made on your behalf. Tears are being cried that can generate a flood, but that it is God’s Love that secures your future. Agape love is more than an emotion, it requires forgiveness at every turn. It is this type of love that you must possess to have a Happy New Year, every year of your life!
