She said that she has been inspired by 2003 movie Calendar Girls, starring Helen Mirren. It is based on a true story of a group of middle-aged Yorkshire women who posed in the buff to raise funds for leukaemia research.
The calendar was sold at $25 through website bab.com.sg, and at Ms Sim’s boutique. Five hundred copies were produced for $8 each, and $17 from sale of each calendar will be donated to the cancer foundation.
Ms. Sim engaged local photographer Sit Weng Sim, 30, to shoot the calenda. The shoot took place at Ms. Sits’s home studio in her Chinatown flat over two weekends in July and August. Some of the “models” developed cold feet initially and they just looked at each other with hands covering their private parts. It took them 30 minutes to warm up to being naked in front of others, before they started posing.
Ms. Su, who is Miss June in the calendar, is pictured jumping joyfully in the air, with an arm over her breasts. Another “model”, Ms. October, 30-year-old marketing executive Regine Guo, 1.65 m tall and weighs 98kg , strikes a graceful pose with her back to the viewer. The image is redolent of paintings of Balinese dancers, with sawn-like arms, splayed fingers and alluring curves. Similarly, financial adviser, Michelle Low, 32, weighs 85 kg and married with no children, wears nothing but a big, sunny smile in it. She says she posed for the calendar because “the calendar shows that everyone is beautiful in her own way”.
The entire shoot was sexy and the result was tasteful.
