Bill Riley Communities to host Family Holiday Classic boys basketball tournament

Dec. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Family Holiday Classic to be held on Dec. 29th & 30th hosted by Decatur High School.

December 29, 2010-Puyallup WA - Bill Riley Communities Family is hosting their annual Holiday Classic boys basketball tournament to be held at Decatur High School. Schedule is as follows; Dec. 29: Rogers (5-2) vs. Lincoln (5-1) at 6 p.m. and Jefferson (2-5) vs. Decatur (5-2) at 7:45 p.m. Dec. 30: third-place game at 6 p.m. and championship Game at 7:45 p.m.

“To support kids and young adults regionally either directly or indirectly through the support of programs and events gives us gratification in so many ways” said Bill Riley of Bill Riley Communities Family. “As a father, I realize the value of implementing good health to children and making long lasting impressions to youth in ways they can look back on and appreciate. I felt it was very important that we created a charitable foundation that we could structure around our local community.” Riley added.

The Bill Riley Charitable Foundation was originally created to help the Young Life Program of the greater Puyallup area. We have been able to expand and share with many other organizations as well. Our main fundraising event is to build and sell a new home. We work with our local sub-contractors and they donate as much of their time and materials as possible and all the proceeds from the sale go into the funds that support programs for local kids.

In 2008, we were able to support some High School and College programs, Friends and Servants, Youth for Christ, Young Life, Apple Kids Cup, Emergency Food Network, as well as give to some organizations supporting research for cancer and heart disease. We also took our staff and spent a day volunteering to build a Habitat for Humanity house. We have a grant application process to organize and select from to budget support for each year.
