Preston Hyundai Sees More Buyers in Maryland as Hyundai Reaches 500,000 Sales

Dec. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Hyundai Motor Company has set a new sales record for itself in the United States.  As of last Friday December 24th, Hyundai surpassed selling 500,000 vehicles. This is the first time Hyundai has reached this number since it began selling vehicles in the US 24 years ago. In 1986 the carmaker sold around 160,000 low cost Excel compacts in the US when it first launched. However due to quality issues sales plummeted shortly after 1986.

Hyundai then launched an effort to increase its quality in 1999. Since then Hyundai quality in their cars and trucks has never been higher. The 10 year 100,000 miles powertrain warranty also came out at that time. Thanks to the efforts, sales rebounded to hit the 400,000 mark by 2003. In high demand, Hyundai has sold over 180,000 new 2011 Hyundai Sonatas this year. The redesigned 2011 Hyundai Tucson and redesigned 2011 Hyundai Elantra has also helped Hyundai sales take off.

“The Hyundai product has really taken off this year in Maryland and Delaware,” says Bruce Vincent of Preston Hyundai in Preston, Maryland, “Our highest seller is by far the 2011 Hyundai Sonata, we have also had a hard time keeping Hyundai Santa Fes, the redesigned Hyundai Tucson, and the newly redesigned Hyundai Elantra can seem to stay on our lot.” Many Hyundai dealers recently saw an inventory issue in which they had to rely on eachother to get the proper inventory to their Hyundai buyers.
