The Special Journey with Parent and Infant

Learning to observe and understand a baby's needs in the present moment, is the most important aspect of enjoying a new parent's journey into parenthood.

Dec. 27, 2010 - PRLog -- A parent's dream of cuddling, feeding and nurturing their baby before she is born.  As this dream becomes a reality the days and nights seem to blend.  Sleep is disrupted and parents find there is little time for meals, exercise or reflection or themselves. Although envisioning a desirable future is important, enjoying and appreciating the present moments of the journey is equally important.  Parenting is hard work. Hard work is best accomplished by teamwork, mutual support, and working toward well-understood common goals.

This is just what Maria Johnson, a Parent Infant Specialist will offer at the Princeton Montessori School to parents, grandparents and nannies. Ms. Johnson brings her many years of experience, observations and research to help new parents deal with the challenges of parenting, identifying the developmental markers in infant children and aid parents in the use of direct and indirect skills that affect the beginning responses and connections with the world.

A 10 week Parent-Infant session beginning in January will focus on helping parents learn ways to observe and interpret your baby's needs, as well as discuss important topics about safety, nutrition, the development of healthy eating habits, decreasing night crying and increasing sleep, discipline, weaning, toileting, travelling and celebrations.
