The first spot, a 30-second airing, will feature the Sonata as a ‘conventional, early-generation hybrid,’ showcasing ‘a sophisticated evolution of technology’ in an eco-friendly package. This spot, called “Anachronistic City,” shows the history of technology and innovation beginning from the 1880s-era bicycles and moving through time to the 2011 Sonata Hybrid.
"The spot makes a point about how all technology evolves. Hybrid Sonata capitalizes on the learnings of hybrid models that have come before it, and advances the technology so that it's practical and affordable for a broader consumer audience – not just early adopters," said John Krafcik, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. "Like the 2.4-liter direct-injected Sonata and the 2.0-liter Sonata Turbo launched earlier this year, Sonata Hybrid demonstrates Hyundai's unique approach melding innovative technologies and emotional design into products more and more people want to put in their driveways."
This all-new Hyundai hybrid features an impressive 40-miles per gallon fuel economy rating on the highway with 35-miles per gallon city driving. The 2011 Sonata Hybrid is equipped with the first of its kind lithium polymer batteries giving this vehicle a lighter weight with higher energy density.
