BMW X1 Bookings Crosses 1000 Unit Mark In India

Dec. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- BMW X1, the recently unveiled compact luxury sports utility vehicle in India, has been receiving an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers. The company has said that it has already received over 1,000 bookings for this SUV in the country which means the X1 models that will be produced in next three months have already been sold. The new BMW X1 has been shelved in the price bracket of Rs 22 lakh - 29.9 lakh (ex-showroom) as the cheapest BMW brand car in the Indian market.

The company launched BMW X1 in the country on Thursday in a ceremony held in New Delhi. The car has been rolled out in three variants including the base petrol version sDrive18i at Rs 22 lakh, base diesel variant sDrive20d at Rs 23.9 lakh, and top diesel variant sDrive 20d Exclusive at Rs 29.9 lakh.

“The new BMW X1 is a modern vehicle that for the first time brings premium BMW characteristics into the compact vehicle segment. The new BMW X1 sets a benchmark by bringing together features of a Sports Activity Vehicle with spontaneous flexibility and outstanding fuel economy. The new BMW X1 is the perfect vehicle for customers focusing on areas such as leisure activities and lifestyle in their choice of car,” said Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW India, while briefing to the reporters on the occasion.

The petrol version of the car comes powered by a 1.8L four cylinder engine that delivers a peak power of 110 kW with a 200 Nm of maximum torque. On the other hand, the diesel version has been blessed with a 2.0L turbocharged engine that delivers a peak power of 130 kW along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The major rivals of BMW X1 model in the compact luxury SUV segment will be Honda CR-V and Toyota Fortuner.
