Dec. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Today California residents got a break in the weather and began to clean-up after devastating floods and rainfall wreaked havoc across much of southern California this week.  Yesterday, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency in six counties across the state.  The declaration authorizes assistance from the state of California to local government officials in San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Tulare, Orange, Riverside and Kern counties.

Record rainfall dumped more than half the year’s normal rainfall in many parts and some areas of Los Angeles recorded almost 22 inches of rain.  An estimated 17 feet of snow fell in parts of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

As residents and business owners inspect their properties they need to be aware of health concerns from mold, bacteria, sewage and chemical contaminants from the rain and floods.  Already the office of Global Prevention Services in Santa Monica, California, has been inundated with calls from residents in need of water damage and microbial remediation services for their residential and commercial properties.  GPS has the professional teams, experience and equipment to resolve water damage claims quickly and with minimal disruption for their clients.

“This was a storm for the record books,” reported Kenny Fischer, President of the GPS Santa Monica office.  “People need to act quickly because mold can begin to grow indoors on wet building materials and belongings in as short as 24 hours.  Professionals know the proper way to completely and thoroughly dry water damaged properties.  It’s not just the wet areas you can see with the naked eye, you need to clean and dry areas in wall and ceiling cavities and behind or below any obstructions.  Once everything is dry there are treatments that can be done to prevent future mold growth,” Mr. Fischer continued.

GPS provides the only industry warranty for complete projects, fully backed by an AM Best A+ rated insurance provider. To learn more about Global Prevention Services please call (310) 998-8888, email KF@NoMold.com or visit http://www.NoMold.com/LA.
