By: WOCNCB Milwaukee, WI The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB(R)) is accepting applications for its 2011 Employer Recognition Award and Certification Grants programs. The organization is also promoting its Benevolence Fund, which was founded in 2007 to grant the cost of certification fees to WOCNCB certified nurses experiencing financial hardship. ** Employer Recognition Award The WOCNCB Employer Recognition Award is awarded annually to honor an organization that has demonstrated exemplary support of the certification process in WOC nursing. The award includes $1,000 toward employee certification or recertification and recognition of the organization at the 2011 WOCN 43rd Annual Conference in New Orleans. Nurses currently certified by the WOCNCB are eligible to nominate their employers. ** Certification Grants The WOCNCB Certification Grants are awarded annually to up to three applicants. Grant winners are WOCNCB certificants who are highly motivated, currently in clinical practice, and share their knowledge of their specialty practice with others. The grants are valued up to $450 as reimbursement toward certification fees. In addition, grant recipients will be recognized at the 2011 WOCN 43rd Annual Conference in New Orleans. Employer Recognition Award and Certification Grant applications are due no later than January 31, 2011. Award and grant winners will be notified no later than April 30, 2011. ** Benevolence Fund In response to the difficulties inherent in today’s economy, the WOCNCB is promoting its Benevolence Fund. The WOCNCB encourages its certificants to apply for financial assistance with their certification fees rather than let their credentials lapse. Certificants may apply at any time; each applicant may be awarded funding once every five years. The application is available on the WOCNCB website or from the WOCNCB national office.
