Turtles Nest, Gorordo Av, Lahug, Cebu. Don't Eat Here. This place is disgusting reviewers said

Dec. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- CEBU, PHILIPPINES - "unbelivable..thats it in a nutshell" local food critic Joseph Ramos said today.  "wow, this place is not bad .. its real fu%$en bad.. I dont know how these people survive dishing out bad service, bad ambience and bad food".

We asked JR what his experience was to open to us with a line like that and JR responded to Cebu dining and eating guide as follows".

"Picture this.. its a Saturday night around 8pm .. theres only two bunches of people.. mmmm around five diners all up .. i should have guessed.. hardly anyone must be a warning sign.  We walked into a so called dining area that doubled as a library.  Its stunk of musty books which were displayed for sale.  Apart from the stink I ordered a Coke to drink and received a flat / stale coke.  Are these guys kidding? was someone from the staff drinking the coke out of the bottle? what other reason would there be for a coke to lose its fizz?"

"Even more of a disaster was to come."  JR went onto say "We ordered a sizzling squid from Turtles Nest and what? half of the squid was missing .. only 5 small pieces came out.  Were some of the staff pinching our food?, even more shocking was the nicois salad.  The staff when asked "whats a nicois salad" could not describe what it was.  Ummm i dont expect turtles to be that bright but the staff looked like they were busy out the back perhaps nibbling on the food i ordered but at least management could give some decent training to describe the dishes on offer."  "We took the gamble and ordered the salad.. oh wow! to our horror was a selection of carrot, some other slices of salad things but a so called lettuce that drooped over the side of the bowl.  It all looked so unappetizing that we did even eat it.  How can these guys sell crap salads and expect customers to pay.  The salad was so "off" it looked like it had been sitting out the back for 12 hours desperately waving out to the few customers that come through Turtles nets "buy me, buy me""

"When we challenged the absent minded girl who couldnt even describe the salad we ordered then she looked rather upset.  Of course.. this is a greedy filipino eating establishment that, if we returned our food, the girl would have to pay for it.  Someone from staff would pay out of their meagre wages but never the business owner .. " JR went on to say.

"so basically we were fu&ked over by Turtles nest.

1. Flat softdrinks
2. Droopy salad that looked like it had been sitting out for 12 hours.
3. Tasteless food
4. Smelly ambience of rotting books on shelves and smelly couches to sit on.
5. Absent minded staff who appear poorly trained.
6. Greedy management who probably havent trained the staff and will penalise from their salaries any food that is returned.
7. Lack of local support (Sauturday night the place should be pumping but only 5 people raises alarm bells that we now know why there werent so many people at turtles nest on that particular night"
8. Couldnt contact the owners to complain.

"We tried to take it up withe the managers and owners of Turtles nest but nobody seems to know who the owners are and how to contact them.  Again its a traditional filipino food operation.  I just take the orders, no one knows anything and delivers crap food, crap ambience and everyone expects it to make money.".

"What more can we say.  Theres plenty of great dining out places around Cebu" Joseph Ramos said .. "Turtles Nest is not on our recommended dining establishments thats for sure."

Summary: Our first and last visit.  Our reviewers left Turtles nest thoroughly pi$$ed off.  We got nowhere even couldn't obtain the owners details.  Does this owner manage its staff under an iron fist regime and so no one could tell us how to escalate our complaints.  

Bad food.  Let me say I've eaten better at AA's grill or Packals (maxilom avenue).  Theres many other eating establishments with better ambience than sitting around stinky furniture that needs a good clean, stinky books and eating half size dishes (that perhaps staff have taken a peck of) and drinking stale coke (that perhaps someone has been taking drinks out of the bottle or something.  This cebu dining restaurant is BAD.

Joseph Ramos Cebu food critic. Some like him and others hate him. Hes a no nonsense food reviewer that travels the Philippines and eats food at places from street level to review of wining and dining restaurants in Cebu at good place to review and go.
