You'd think that the capital cities would be able to cope by now but you'd be wrong. London has been disrupted with the added snow and ice. A lot of airlines that go to Heathrow and Gatwick have cancelled flights, also many rail operators have had to change their schedules, a few of the lines that run on the London underground have been cancelled or have had delays to their service and a there have been a few problems on motorways such as the M25.
Those who are expecting deliveries before Christmas better get their fingers crossed as due to the snow, the royal mail has said they will do their best to try to getting post to people before Christmas and many companies have put on their sites that delays to packages, parcels may occur. The retailers must be rubbing their hands in the same way the grinch does with a big smile on their face as this can be an example of why people shouldn't solely rely on online website for their means of getting their Christmas shopping done. Although they will be a bit worried themselves if they are in need of stock for an item and are left waiting longer for it to arrive.
But what are the reasons why there hasn't been any new measures made or set to prevent the country coming to a near standstill and why hasn't the UK prepared for this when they saw it was coming a while back and also add to the fact that this is the third year in a row that winters are getting worse in the UK.
One reason why the people are not seeing more done is that it could cost money that could be spent on something else or will cost millions. How much more would it cost for extra essentials that would prevent all these problems though. Maybe more gritting wouldn't be problematic but then again it isn't easy to store Grit like some people think it is as it. To be honest they can grit all the roads they like as it does an OK job but doesn't solve the main problems that a plow would.
You can just see all those people in who got away this winter to their French counter parts to the Alps or Midi-Pyréné
People were wishing have been wishing for a 'White Christmas' for many years and every year it looks like its getting close to that. Who knows it might happen this year but the aftermath of what will follow it won't leave people in a very jolly mood at all.
