Camarillo CA 2nd Annual CPBA Baseball Clinic Honors Bonnie Young, Benefits Lazarex Cancer Foundation

Join pro baseball's top players, coaches and staff at the 2nd Camarillo Pony Baseball Clinic hosted by the CPBA and Oxnard College’s Roger Frash to honor Bonnie Young (mother of MLB’s Dmitri & Delmon Young) and benefit Lazarex Cancer Foundation.

Dec. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Join some of pro baseball’s top players, coaches, and staff for “Hit a Homerun for Hope” at the 2nd annual Camarillo Pony Baseball Clinic to benefit Lazarex Cancer Foundation on Sunday, January 16th.  The clinic will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Camarillo Pony Baseball Field at 1030 Temple Avenue in Camarillo, CA. Children ages 8 to 14 are eligible to register.  Registration is $75 per player and is tax deductible with all proceeds benefiting Lazarex Cancer Foundation. Parents wishing to enroll their children can pre-register or sign up at the site, 10:00 a.m., the day of the event.  For pre-registration forms e-mail Jennifer Hyatt at camarillopony@yahoo.com.

All registered participants will be entered in a drawing for an opportunity to WIN an autographed item and there will plenty of autographed baseball memorabilia available for bidding through a silent auction.  Food and beverages will be offered for sale.

Hosted by the CPBA and Roger Frash (former 1st round draft pick for the New York Mets, now Oxnard College head assistant baseball coach) this event will honor Bonnie Young (mother of MLB’s Dmitri and Delmon Young) who passed away in late 2009 from pancreatic cancer.

The clinic will cover infield/outfield techniques and fielding, base running and speed drills, pitching mechanics, and discussions on hitting philosophy. In addition to meeting brothers Dmitri Young (formerly of the Washington Nationals and 12 plus years Big Leaguer) and Delmon Young (current Minnesota Twins star outfielder) young players will have a chance to hone their skills and learn first hand from some of Major and Minor League Baseball’s finest athletes and coaches including:
Brook Jacoby current Big League and former Cincinnati Reds hitting coach; Jeff Tackett former Major League Baltimore Orioles; Jerry Willard former Major League Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago White Sox; Darin Spiller former Minor League St. Louis Cardinals; Eric Komatsu current Minor League Milwaukee Brewers and 2010 Player of the Year; Brad Boyer current Minor League San Francisco Giants.

Joining this roster to provide coaching, instruction and inspiration will be: Jon Larson, Head Coach Oxnard College & staff, Oxnard College baseball team; George Paraza, Major League Baseball International; John Diaz, CEO YAC Speed Agility & Strength Training; Richard Jaquez & staff, Camarillo High School baseball players; Alfred Tarazon & staff, Oxnard High School baseball players; David Soliz & staff, Rio Oxnard baseball players and George Erb, owner of Physical Therapy & Fitness Center.

In late 2009, Bonnie Young lost her battle with pancreatic cancer.  Her husband, Larry, and sons Dmitri and Delmon, honor her memory by continuing to raise awareness and funds to fight this tragic disease by reaching out to the community.  The Youngs, along with Lazarex, are helping to build a bridge to hope, dignity and life for cancer patients and their families.  The Foundation’s services are available to patients of all ages and walks of life, with all forms of cancer, providing resources to bridge the gap between when a patient is told that there is no more hope until they finally complete their journey of life.
