There are so many cake recipes of casual cakes for Christmas but you can’t compare any cake with “Classic Christmas Cake”. It’s also called as Fruit Cake Recipe and it becomes really delicious with adding some rich fruit and almonds in it. Classic Christmas cake recipe is the most traditional recipe made in every household during the early days of Christmas. Take a deep look at main ingredients to prepare the Classic Christmas Cake Recipe. In which some of the ingredients you may already have in your kitchen.


Ingredients for making Classic Christmas Cake Recipe:

* 500 g currants, * 200 g raisins, * 3 tsp brandy, * 50 g mixed candied peel (citrus fruit boiled in sugar), * 50 g cherries (syrup),  * 225 g flour (all purpose flour, sifted), * Pinch of salt, * 1/2 tsp pudding spice, * 1/4 tsp nutmeg, * 225 g butter (unsalted), * 225 g sugar (preferably brown), * 4 Eggs, * 1 tsp Black treacle (or black molasses), * 50 g almonds (chopped), *1 Grated lemon (zest), * 1 Grated orange (zest), * 100 g blanched almonds (optional)

Method:

lubricate and line the wax paper or parchment paper in a cake tin and start making cake the night before bake it. Slightly mix the dried fruit and mixed peel with brandy and cover it with skinny cloth and set aside for 12 hours. Then, thoroughly mix flour, salt and spices in a bowl and sieve it to acquire good airing and whisk butter and sugar together awaiting its soft and fluffy. Next step is to beat the eggs in another bowl and add them to the butter sugar mixture, blend it well. After that, slowly add the egg mixture into the flour and blend thoroughly and then mix flour with fruits, peels, chopped nut and black treacle, and finally the grated lemon and orange zests. After mixing, transfer the cake mixture into the prepared tin, pour and spread it out equally with the help of a spoon. Preheat the oven to 140ºF. Then, Garnish blanched almonds in circles or any way you prefer. Finally, cover the top of the cake with two wax papers making a hole in the center. And bake the cake in the preheated oven for 5 hours and put to one side for half an hour to cool. And then, sprinkle brandy on top of the cake and store in an airtight tin. At last your tasty Classic Christmas cake ready to eat.
