Financing private Ex-military jet fighters by tourist and incentive flights

Dec. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Many former Air Force jets, especially the Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros, are privately held. As these jets have been produced in the thousands, they are easily available as the Cold War ended and the thread of a "hot war" decreased. Moreover, former WAPA-countries had financial troubles and slashed defence budgets, so many military jets became available.
As these multi-million jets traded at a knocked-down price starting from USD 150'000, many could afford a jet. But as costs to purchase a jet fighter are not higher than for a fancy Italian sports car, it is still expensive to operate it. Owners do not only spend a fortune for fuel for every flight, they also have to rent a shelter and pay a lot for the cyclical overhaul and maintenance.
As many owners can't afford to fly a lot, the common model so far was fractional ownership, as known from Yachts.
