Mark Zuckerberg – changing the World, as we knew it

Dec. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Lauded by Time for changing the fabric of social interaction while simultaneously blamed by some for depleting what little privacy we have left in this world.

I believe Life and technology are about having choices. We make those when we configure our privacy settings on facebook, which dispenses only the information we’re willing to share. Our personal concern for identity theft gives us tunnel vision making us oblivious to the security measures implemented and growing on the Web.

Privacy is an option when it comes to the information you divulge.

Predators and thieves will always find a way to utilize the technology to their illicit advantage but considered that their interest is to gainfully access information for a short-term advantage in the end they’re helping configure a safe sound technology. Sort of like the Federal Reserve and central bank hiring a counterfeiter to troubleshoot printed currency. I’m positive that financial institutions and businesses are busy safeguarding the security of your online accounts from scammers and identity thieves, while lawyers are busy at providing support in high-technology litigation and succeeding at scaring you. Technology acts as an amplifier, allowing our senses to reach as far as our imagination. The evolution from dot to pixel allows us to publish instantly with structured architectures in the likes of WordPress, a content management system as revolutionary as Johannes Gutenberg printing presses.

Stop blaming the technology just because of your technological reluctance.

The computer is the new interactive television. Television was a good sitter in the past but the “interactive” part means get with it and take charge of the technology because it gets a little deeper than surfing channels and the on and off button. I bet some of you are still struggling with parental control on the television.
Facebook is not the culprit, some of you rely on your child to set the privacy parameters for you very own account and start learning and take control of your children and your life. And if you are technologically challenged ask a knowledgeable adult5 to do it for you. I applaud Zuckerberg vision and the evolution of Facebook allowing people near and far to stay in touch and share instantly with friends and family while the feeling is still ardent. Its not so much the technology but how the technology is pulled under one roof that makes the difference.

As I write this, I’m following via facebook the status of my mom who is Hospitalized in another country, getting a better understanding of the diagnosis on Google, searching a vegetarian recipe for cooking breakfast for a special dietary requirement while in a different window doing a flight price comparison while I complete and publish this article.
So thank you technology and a special thanks to Zuckerberg and Facebook technology for keeping me in touch with the people I love and with my sister that has been bedside with our mother and simultaneously managed to keep me informed in real time, and Google for providing all the info than one could ever wish for and WordPress for propelling my publishing dream.
