Méli-Mélo of Greenwich Rings in New Year with New Pastry Division

Méli-Mélo of Greenwich is expanding its bustling Crêperie and welcoming a new authentic patisserie. The new pastry division is expected to open its doors in the New Year within the eatery’s former location since 1993.

Dec. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Greenwich, Connecticut  --  It’s the most wonderful time of the year and  Méli-Mélo of Greenwich  is expanding its Crêperie on Greenwich Avenue and ringing in the New Year with a new pastry division!  

Along with the new pastry shop Méli-Mélo has recently obtained new pastry chef Maxime Ollivier from Ladurée in Paris, France. Maxime has been busy testing out American ingredients and creating new pastry recipes at the Méli-Mélo Catering kitchen, a few doors down from the crêperie, known for international cuisine with a French twist.  

The new Méli-Mélo Patisserie is expected to open its doors between late January and early February within the eatery’s former location.  Before the patisserie’s grand opening, the restaurant is scheduled to relocate into an adjacent space currently under renovation this month. Following the eateries transition next door renovation of the patisserie will begin within the original 550 square foot crêperie space.

In addition to the eatery almost quadrupling in size, operating hours will be extended and include a new breakfast menu that will feature organic omelets. Existing hours of operation are scheduled to shift with the completion of construction next door. New hours will be 6:30 am to 10:00 pm Monday through Friday and 8:00 am to 10:00 pm on weekends. The creperie’s standard menu, known for French food, will also be adding new specials and more gluten and dairy free options.

As one of the busiest businesses on Greenwich Avenue, owner Marc Penvenne attributes part of his success to the restaurant's prime location in the heart of Greenwich, Connecticut. Penvenne's business has upheld a stellar reputation in the community for almost two decades and he believes now is the right time for a second expansion. (In 2006 Meli-Melo expanded for the first time by adding a catering division a few doors down from the restaurant at 374 1/2 Greenwich Avenue.)

With the recent renovations owner Marc wants his regulars to know that his commitment to quality and prices won’t change. “I don’t want our customers to think we’re changing” Marc explained “Our prices haven’t changed during the last four years and they won’t after the expansion, our regulars represent all income levels and we don’t want that to change.”
