Dec. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- There has been a sharp fall in the number of court proceedings for money claims despite the poor financial climate.

The actual number of court proceedings issued for claims covering money and other assets has fallen by 22% since 2008 according to figures just released by the Ministry of Justice.

In 2008 (Q1 to Q3) 1.56 million proceedings were initiated, this compares to 1.22 million for 2010 (Q1 to Q3).

These figures are somewhat surprising in that they could suggest that there are less people in financial difficulty in 2010 that immediately prior to the “credit crunch”.  However it is more likely that these figures indicate the effect of more prudent lending in the last 2 years which has led to a reduced number of court proceedings for debt recovery.
