Dec. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, NY December 15, 2010 - The Gaddabouts forthcoming album, to be released in January 2011, will feature New York based contemporary artist Jennifer Delilah's painting of a 1940's style radio, with the name of the band set photo-realistically into its face, and floating weightlessly among the clouds in a blue sky.

The concept for the painting came about when Edie Brickell asked former High School classmate Jennifer Delilah to design a logo for the band. The logo was quickly promoted to album cover when images of the painting in progress were sent to Edie. The classic radio design hints at the many musical influences and genres that the band of veteran musicians brings to the project. Along with prolific singer songwriter Edie Brickell, the band is headed by music industry icon and drummer Steve Gadd, with legendary bassist Pino Palladino and renowned guitarist Andy Fairweather-Low.

Delilah created a concept and painting that were immediately embraced by the band as the perfect image for their cover art. Says Brickell, “Jennifer Delilah caught my eye with the incredible skill and imagination of her work. I purchased two of her paintings and commissioned her to do a larger version of one of those, because I loved the imagery so much and felt it inspired my creativity. It hangs in my studio right over my piano. When the Gaddabouts were finishing the record and cover concepts were needed, Jennifer Delilah was the first person I asked to come up with an idea. Her radio image was simple, bold, very clever and the whole band loved it! It's the perfect cover.”

While she considers herself primarily a fine artist, this design project offered an interesting challenge to Delilah. “While I have done album covers in the past, this is the first that allowed me to do what I do best. It felt natural and at the same time really pushed my creative and technical boundaries. Working on this project has been an expansive experience for me, it has really opened up new possibilities.”

The group's forthcoming debut will be released January 2011 and is composed of material written by Brickell over the past decade as well as songs written with the band in the studio the very day of recording. In celebration of the project, the group will make their live debut at Carnegie's Zankel Hall as part of the WFUV concert series in April 2011.
