Oregon jobless rate still stuck at over 10 percent; Hound finds 6,000 jobs.

Dec. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Pasadena, CA, December 15, 2010 – Oregon’s unemployment rate has stayed over 10 percent since October 2009, higher than the national unemployment rate.

The seasonally adjusted rate for the state has stayed around 10.5 percent to 10.7 percent in the past 13 months. The rate for November was 10.6 percent, higher than the national average of 9.8 percent. The total number of net jobs added to the state economy was around 16,200 since last October.

The main job creators in November were the trade, transportation and utilities sector (7,300), retail sector (3,600), government (3,700) and education and healthcare sector (900). The construction sector in the state has continued the nationwide trend of job losses. Around 3,900 construction jobs were lost in November. But around 2,000 were jobs that are typically lost in November. The financial services sector also lost around 1,200 jobs in the last 13 months.

Spokane County, Oregon’s economic hub had an unemployment rate of 8.1 percent, with over 224,000 people who were employed. In fact the labor force increased by around 5,000 workers from October to November. But there are jobs being created throughout the state according to Hound. Hound is a job search engine and it has been able to find over 6,000 jobs. Most of the jobs are in the healthcare, retail and education sector.
