Nimlok are nominated for Northamptonshire Excellence Business of the Year

Dec. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- There were ten categories for local businesses to enter;  Training and Development Award, Creative Business of the Year, International trader of the Year, Environmental Award, Apprenticeship Business of the Year, Enterprising Business of the Year, Unsung Employee of the Year, Community Investment Award, Customer Service Award and business of the Year (under 50 employees and over 50 employees).

Local manufacturing and exhibition stand supplier, Nimlok, were finalists in two categories; Environmental Award and Apprenticeship Business of the Year.  There were five finalists in each category and Nimlok were voted Runner Up of the Environmental Award and a finalist of the Apprenticeship Business of the Year.

The judges commented:  “The first impression from my visit to Nimlok was how enthusiastic they all are when it comes to recycling. It is very obvious that the whole team have put a lot of hard work into taking responsibility for the waste that the company produces. Everything is placed in its designated bin or cage and then sorted to try and minimise any waste going to landfill at the same time reducing costs for the company. Local suppliers have been sourced were possible to reduce imports from the Far East. Investment has been made in the latest printing equipment and technology to minimise waste. A lot of care and thought has gone in to trying to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
I came away very impressed and will take some of the practices back to use in my own company”.
“Nimlok’s Apprenticeship Scheme is a very effective one which is designed to meet the varied needs of the company from electrical installation and business administration to print finishing. The scheme is flexible and uses a variety of ‘off the job’ providers in order to meet the requirements of the apprentices and the business.
The work which apprentices do and the training they receive is highly integrated through effective reviews, HR support and regular meetings with training providers. Nimlok are to be congratulated on developing such a scheme”.
The finalists were greeted at the Barcelo by a champagne and chocolate fountain reception, followed by a three course meal and entertained by Simon Evans before the awards presentations took place.  This was then followed by a charity auction and raffle with all proceeds going to the WNAA (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance) and a lively disco polished off this evening of excellence.
