Dec. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Young Europeans, who are starting university, going on exchange abroad, or looking for their first job, will be much better off from December 2010. This is when the new social forum, Graduateland, is launched.

Graduateland is a career and education portal for students and graduates across Europe. The site has brought together more than 35.000 jobs, internships and graduate programmes from more than 350 of the most attractive employers in one place. This means that job seekers only need to search from one central place, instead of having to search each employer’s career website.

Young people who are about to start university, or are considering going on exchange abroad will also benefit from Graduateland. The portal contains almost 1.000 profiles of universities across Europe, where users can segment across parameters such as location and study directions, as well as practical matters like language of instruction, accommodation, language courses etc.

The unemployment amongst the youth and recent graduates in Europe is sky high. In Denmark it is bad, in Eastern Europe it is worse, and it is much too high in the southern part of Europe, with an unemployment rate of the Spanish youth of 40%. The drive behind Graduateland is to solve these problems.

Graduateland is constructed as a social forum where the users are encouraged to contribute with ratings and comments on both the employers and universities across different parameters. This results in a much more dynamic and trustworthy portrayal of the career and education scenario.

The approach to the job posts has been turned upside down, meaning that all jobs are posted on Graduateland for free. All employers can register their profile, and sign up for the automatic ‘job crawling’, which synchronizes with what they post on their own website. Employers and universities can increase exposure of the profiles and jobs via Cost-Per-Click (CPC) or Cost-Per-Thousand view (CPM).

Behind the portal are two students from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, and three guys with extensive IT experience. Graduateland is ready to launch in medio December. By the way Graduateland won McKinsey & Co’s ‘Business Idea’ competition, announced at Copenhagen Business School, the 10th of November 2010.
