From Rusted to Reno - 39 Chevy Dream Comes True

Dec. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- The Smithers are passionate about all things Hot Rod, so five years ago they decided to direct that passion towards helping others. Setting up the 39 Chevy Car Club, Vic and Kylie organise and run four Hot Rod Events a year, with all money raised from these events going towards their preferred charities - Camp Quality, Care Flight and Miracle Babies. Vic and Kylie have since donated over $100,000 to these charities and all through a lot of hard work, selflessness and true Chevy passion.

When Channel 9's Random Acts of Kindness asked Shannons if they would help give a little something back to Vic and Kylie, there was no hesitation in getting on board. Shannons was literally born out of the passion of the Car Club movement and we continue to support clubs around Australia by getting behind hundreds of events every year, said Shannons Marketing Manager, Mark Behr. We understand how passionate people like Vic and Kylie are, so to think of them with a beauty such as the 39 Chev sitting idle and rusting in their garage, well, that made it a pretty easy decision for us to get involved.

The result is a pristine, fully-restored, metallic purple Chevy classic, which was presented as a surprise to Vic and Kylie at their last fund-raising event in South West Sydney earlier this year.

Kylie's Mum, Wendy Swan was instrumental in getting the Chevy to its secret location, so that more than 400 hours of a rebuild could take place. They sacrifice a lot of their own time raising money for charity, so there was just never any time or money for them to build their dream car she said.

When Vic and Kylie hold their next Car Club Show, they will now know what it feels like to be able to cruise into the event in their own dream car - the 39 Chev that has finally come out of the garage and been given a new lease on life.
