Mid Atlantic Spine and Pain Physicians Opens Sleep Lab

Dec. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- NEWARK, DE – Officers from Mid Atlantic Spine and Pain Physicians (MASPP), the most comprehensive pain practice in the U.S diagnosing and treating spine and pain related disorders, cut the ribbons to its new Sleep Lab and designed for the purpose of studying sleep disorders and located within it’s in clinic in Newark, Delaware.

The new Sleep Lab at MASPP is open five days a week and was built to accommodate patients of MASPP. Approximately two-thirds of patients suffering from pain also have sleep disorders and the lack of restorative sleep in turn can make the pain worse. Patients come in and stay overnight. Electrodes are attached around the scalp, face, shoulder and legs. Two bands, one around the chest and another around the abdomen, monitor breathing patterns. Airflow sensors sit under the nose. During the night, sleep technologists constantly monitor patients. They also look after any needs patients may have if they wake up.
